Travelling to the "Navel of the Earth" from Altai to Tyva

1 DAY:
MAGIC ALTAI - ACQUAINTANCE
Route: Novosibirsk - Biysk - Maima village - Manzherok village - Ust-Sema
Length: 500 km, trekking - 3 km
Day description:
   Meeting of participants in Novosibirsk. We give a briefing on safety requirements. Accommodation in jeeps.
   Start at 8.00 o'clock, and we go straight towards Altai. Moving along the motorway M-52 ("Chuisky trakt"): Novosibirsk - Biysk - Maima - s. Manzherok.
   We eat in roadside cafes. Overnight stay in cabins at the base. Bathhouse is possible. The road section from Biysk to the border with Mongolia is called Chuyskiy trakt. During more than 600 km this road surprises with the variety of nature and the presence of many attractions.
   If you would like a double room, please let us know in advance - we will book a room for you and tell you the amount of extra charge.
   After a delicious dinner and accommodation at the base, we will gather to introduce the group with a glass of delicious hot mulled wine. Bonfire, aromatic drink and warm company - a perfect start to the adventure to the Top of the Earth".
2 DAY:
Route: Ust-Sema - Aktash
Length: jeeps - 300 km, trekking - 5 km
Description of the day:
   Today we will be travelling across Altai, along the mountainous part of the Chuisky tract - Shabalino - Topuchaya village - Seminsky pass - Ongudai - Chiki-Taman pass - Aktash - visit to the geyser lake.  We will definitely visit Uch-Emek Nature Park.
   Also today we will see "Chui-Oozy", Bom Bichiktu-Kaya, monument to the drivers of Chuisky tract and sections of the old road, Shirlak waterfall (from Alt. "maiden's tears").
    We will stop for the night in a picturesque place in the Kurai steppe of the Altai Republic. We will spend the night in tents. Bathhouse is possible.
3 DAYS:
Route: Aktash - the Pupus of the Earth
Length: jeeps - 260 km, trekking - 5 km
Description of the day:
   In order to get to the "navel of the earth" (as locals call the lake "Hindiktig-Khol" Tuva Republic), we will leave the excellent asphalt of the Chuisky tract and start driving off-road.
   Today we are waiting for fords, overcoming kurumniks, and after we overcome the Buguzun pass from the Altai side and get into Tuva, we will have the upper bogs on our way. The reward for today will be a majestic view of Lake Akkol.
    We camp on the bank of one of the streams, which flows into the lake.
We cook tasty food on the fire. Today we will have a hiking bath in the programme. The altitude is about 2200 metres above sea level. Overnight stay at the lake in tents.
4 DAYS:
Route: Hindigtik-Khol
Length: jeeps - 30 km, trekking - 7 km
Description of the day:
Today all day we will enjoy the beauty of Tuva mountains. The route of the day is not long just a few tens of kilometres, we will make many stops in picturesque places.
After overcoming several steep passes and ford, we will come to the lake Hindigtik-Khol.
The huge area of the lake and the surrounding high mountains with squirrels will make anyone feel admiration for the beauty of nature of this place. Overnight stay at the lake in tents.
5 DAYS:
Route: Lake Hindiktig-Khol - Parking place
Length: jeeps - 110 km. Trekking - 4 km.
Day Description:
Hindiktig-Khol Lake is located at the foot of Mongun-Taiga mountain range to the east and the spurs of Shapshal range to the west and north. The lake is located in a small basin.
In the centre of the lake there are two islands formed by bedrock outcrops. The height of the largest one is 2458 metres. Itinerary of the day - Lake Hindigtik-Khol - Buguzun pass. Today we will return to the mountainous Altai.
Overnight stay in tents on the river Buguzun. Bathhouse is possible.
6 DAYS:
Route: Trekking to the spring
Length: jeeps - 2 km. Trekking - 5 km.
Description of the day:
   Today we are not travelling anywhere but trekking. Trekking to the spring with living water. The spring is located on the right bank of the Akkayalu-OzTk river, the left tributary of the Buguzun river. It belongs to the high-mountainous group of springs formed at an absolute height of more than 2000 metres.
   Its name is of Mongolian origin. Among the local population the spring is known as a healing spring. It was given the status of a natural monument by the Resolution of the Government of the Altai Republic dated 16.02.1996.
   The spring is located at an altitude of 2360 m, on the western slope of the Chikhachev Ridge, within the South-Eastern Altai.
7 DAYS:
Route: Parking place - Aktash
Length: jeeps - 140 km. Trekking - 6 km.
Description of the day:
Today we will return to the Chuyskiy tract and drive towards Aktash. Chuyskaya and Kurayskaya steppes with a visit to the Museums of Altai Kazakhs and viewpoints, drive to the "Altai Mars" Kyzyl-Chin and Kuekhtonar smelting furnaces. Overnight stay in tents.
8 DAYS:
Route: Ust-Sema - Manzherok - Biysk - Novosibirsk
Length: jeeps - 600 km
Day description:
  The eighth day of our journey takes the road with stops for a short rest and a snack we will see what we did not have time to see on the way to the Pup of the Earth. After lunch we leave the magical, fairy-tale land of the Altai Mountains! We were able to rest our souls, feel calmness and peace, peace and harmony and make new friends! Catch a wave of positivity, drive, bright sensations!
  Closer to the evening we, happy, joyful and satisfied, arrive in Novosibirsk, where our off-road journey will end, but Altai will be waiting for new meetings with you!
It's time to say goodbye to new friends, people who have become very close during our journey.
  But the friendly Siberia Discovery Team will soon bring us all together again to experience similar emotions in a new journey, in new places!!!! See you soon!!!
